Cabbage Steaks

Updated: May 25, 2021

This dish is super easy to make and has deep flavor from baking at a high temperature! You could get crazy and cook them, and stack them with alternating green and purple cabbage, and layer them with cheese in between to make it a cabbage mountain!

You could also cook these in an air fryer!

Ingredients:

1-2 Cabbages

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp paprika

2 Tbsp oil

salt and pepper to taste

Lets get cooking

1. Cut the stalk out of the cabbage carefully. To make it easy, I cut them in thick slices first, and then remove the center on the lower part where its harder.

2. Preheat an oven, or use an air fryer at 400 degrees.

3. Place the cabbage slices on a cookie sheet or sheet pan (you can use foil to save on cleaning afterwards). Drizzle half of the oil on all of the slices of cabbage, and then sprinkle with the spices, salt and pepper. Flip, and repeat so that both sides are coated with oil and seasoned.

Be careful to not oversalt the cabbage because it will overwhelm it and takes away the natural sweet flavor in the cabbage.

4. Once the oven/air fryer is preheated, place the cabbage in and cook for about 6-8 minutes. Flip the cabbage so that both sides brown evenly and cook for another 8-10 minutes or until they are soft throughout and have a little bit of browning.

*Be careful because burnt cabbage tastes awful so you want to watch it as it gets browned.

Enjoy!
